Recently Google announced the closing of Google Play Music which will be replaced by YouTube Music.

For all those who are not aware of Google Play Music:

Google Play Music is a music and podcast streaming service and online music locker operated by Google, part of its Google Play line of services. The service was announced on May 10, 2011; after a six-month, invitation-only beta period, it was publicly launched on November 16, 2011.

What is YouTube Music?

YouTube Music is a music streaming service developed by YouTube, a subsidiary of Google; it provides a tailored interface for the service-oriented towards music streaming, allowing users to browse through songs and music videos on YouTube based on genres, playlists, and recommendations.

Google Announced Today Over Emails:

YouTube Music is replacing Google Play Music as your new destination for music listening and discovery. Between October and the end of this year, access to Google Play Music will be removed permanently.

But the good news is if you have created your playlist and spent a lot of time creating what you love to listen then you can transfer your music library to YouTube Music with just one click, including playlists, uploads, and recommendations.

Things you Should Know about YouTube Music:

Google Play Music library and data

YoutTube Music allows the download option for the music you’ve purchased or uploaded to GPM which further includes the playlists, tracks, and radio stations in your library.

Music Manager and uploads

Music Manager will be discontinued and users will not able to upload or download music from there. But users can upload personal music collections to YT Music via Google Takeout.

Music store on Google Play

YouTube Music will get launch in 30 days which further means, Google Play Music life remains 30 days from today. Users will not be able to purchase music anymore and if you have any pre-orders those will be canceled automatically.

Radio and background play

If you want to access the background play feature then you have to be a paid member of the Youtube Music app. Though, the music files you uploaded or purchased could be played in background play.
